Car Rental Advice

DO NOT go sightseeing on the Eastern part of the island along the coastline without renting a four-wheel drive vehicle or an ATV. I cannot emphasize enough that the terrain in most areas is extremely difficult for a regular vehicle to traverse and can result in serious damage to the car where you may be held liable. Please always make sure to rent a Jeep or use an ATV which is designed for that kind of environment, but make sure that you always read the contract which clearly should state whether the vehicle is allowed or not. In addition I would recommend asking the dealer’s where those types of vehicles are ok to use on the eastern side of the island where the landscape varies from desert along the coastline.

When renting a vehicle it is always recommended that you get insurance for peace of mind. However, if you plan on using a credit card to reserve a vehicle check with that credit card company to see if they cover car insurance rentals for free and what exactly do they cover. This can possibly save you the cost of paying for car insurance needlessly when the credit card company may have you already covered.
